CYPRESS, Texas -- Robert Nastasi says what happened to his granddaughter at Buc-ee s in Cypress was just a big misunderstanding, and the result of kids horsing around with a roll of tape in the back seat of a car.

They re 8 and 9, said Nastasi. Come on, you got two older boys that tied the little baby up and they were playing Easter bunny and hunting eggs and stuff.

But someone in the parking lot noticed that little girl, her hands, mouth and feet bound by tape, and reported it to police.

Some people take it differently like you re harming a kid. Please, I got five kids, 13 grand kids. We don t go that way, said Nastasi.

Tuesday morning, the girl s mother Ashley Nastasi, along with the girl s father, Joshua Wilson, and her stepdad Jose Lombana, faced a judge on child endangerment charges.

The law just does stupid things without getting research, added the grandfather.

KHOU 11 News reached the dad by phone. He said he didn t want to talk. No one answered the door at the mom and stepdad s home. Even without hearing from the suspects, it seems clear that what may have started out as innocent child s play has gotten three grownups in a lot of trouble.

It s just a gag gone wrong, said Nastasi. I guarantee you they ll never do something that stupid again.
