HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man was taken into custody after he shot his brother and his fiancée on Sunday afternoon, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Gonzalez said it happened around 4 p.m. at an apartment complex off Fallbrook Drive just off 249 inside the Beltway.
Wilman Sandoval, 23, was taken into custody and a pistol was found at the scene, Gonzalez said. He's being charged with three counts of aggravated assault, Gonzalez said.
According to investigators, Sandoval's fiancée, 26, was shot several times and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Sandoval's 17-year-old brother was trying to help his fiancée even though he had also been shot. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition. Both are expected to survive, according to Gonzalez.
Gonzalez said investigators determined that a possible motive for the shooting was that Sandoval believed they were conducting witchcraft on him.
Investigators were still combing through the apartment complex to see if there were any other witnesses. Gonzalez said five family members were living at the apartment and they were all home at the time of the shooting, although no one else was injured.
