KLEIN, Texas — A man's frightening experience while trying to sell something on Facebook Marketplace prompted a crime alert from Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman's office.
The victim said he was selling an Apple iPhone and agreed to meet a "buyer" on Hedgeton Court near Northcrest Drive in the Klein area Monday night. He handed the guy his phone but instead of paying him, he said the driver took off, dragging him down the street.
The injured victim gave Pct. 4 deputies a description and other information and they were able to identify the suspects as Traeyvon Edmond and Hayes Hunt.
They tracked down Edmond and Hunt within hours and arrested them. Both were booked into the Harris County Jail on aggravated robbery charges.
Precinct 4 said it's an important reminder that you should always meet in a safe place like a police station and never at your home.
"The most important thing is just be safe if you have that bad feeling, if you get that tingling that, your stomach starts to tighten up because you just know it doesn't feel right, walk away from the situation," Pct. 4 Capt. Jose Garza advised. "Contact law enforcement if you need to, but don't give out your personal information. try to do this in a public setting."
Other tips include taking someone with you and avoiding meeting up with a buyer at night.
