MANVEL, Texas — Two men, including a sergeant with the El Campo Police Department, have been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault stemming from an investigation out of Manvel, Texas.
The Manvel Police Department identified the two suspects as Detective Freddie Charles Douglas Jr., 43, and John Edward Mark, 40. In addition to the aggravated sexual assault charge, Mark has also been charged with aggravated kidnapping.
Details surrounding the investigation are unclear, but police said the incident happened on November 8. The investigation started on November 16 and is still ongoing.
According to the El Campo Police Department, Douglas has been placed on administrative leave with suspension of all police powers pending a full review of this investigation. He started working with the El Campo Police Department in October 2011.
El Campo is a Texas city of around 12,000 people located between Houston and Victoria. It's about 70 miles southwest of Manvel, which is south of Houston.
