Driver runs away after hitting gas meter, knocking out power in N. Houston

Police said a pickup truck driver was on the run early Friday after causing destruction in a north Houston neighborhood.
HPD says someone hit a gas meter and knocked out power to two homes before running away, leaving behind a white pickup. It happened on Orange Grove near Gloger early Friday.

It was around 1 a.m. when someone driving the white truck lost control and went through a ditch on Orange Grove at Gloger, knocking out a gas meter. The truck then went through a fence and knocked down a pole before crashing into a tree.

When firefighters arrived, no one was in the truck.

The accident knocked out electricity to two nearby homes, and crews had to come out to shut off the gas leak.

Police believe the pickup may have been stolen, but the investigation is still underway.
