HOUSTON — A 59-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night during what police are calling an argument during a game of dominoes.
It happened around 7 p.m. at an apartment complex in southeast Houston near the intersection of Griggs Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
According to police, when responding officers got to the scene, they found an unresponsive man on the sidewalk with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the man who was shot and killed was playing dominoes with friends when someone they didn't know walked up and hit him on the head. A witness told police the men exchanged words before the suspect pulled out a pistol and shot the victim.
Police said the shooter hadn't been taken into custody as of 2 p.m. Wednesday. The only description investigators provided is that he was a man in his 20s.
Authorities said they were going to talk to witnesses and see if they could find surveillance video to help them piece together what happened.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Houston Police Department Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
