HOUSTON — The FBI needs the public's help with identifying a wig-wearing woman who has robbed half a dozen Houston-area banks in the last five days.
She is described as an African American woman in her 20s or early 30s who is between 5 feet 2 inches tall and 5 feet 6 inches tall. She switched between a blonde or red-orange wig during the robberies, large black sunglasses and either a black fedora or a green scarf on her head.
Officials said the first robbery happened Friday, Jan 18 at a Chase Bank in the 1300 block of Gessner Road. The woman allegedly approached a bank teller, displayed a note taped to her purse saying that she was armed with a gun and demanded cash. The teller, in fear of her life, gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.
The woman drove away from the bank in a white Chevrolet Malibu with a missing right rear hubcap. No injuries were reported.
That same day, the woman robbed a Chase Bank in the 10400 block of Westheimer Road, according to the FBI.
On Saturday, Jan. 19, the woman hit a BBVA Compass Bank in the 1200 block of Spencer Highway in south Houston. A few hours later, she robbed a Capital One Bank at 11408 Gulf Freeway.
On Tuesday, Jan. 22, the FBI says the woman walked into a Bank of America in the 1100 block of Edgebrook and less than a hour later she robbed a Comerica Bank in the 9100 block of Airport Blvd.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the bank robber.
