BAYTOWN, Texas — The family of a young woman who was shot and killed in a mass shooting in Baytown nearly three years ago is pleading for help to find her killer.

Disha Allen, 25, was at a vigil on December 12, 2021, when someone drove by and opened fire on the crowd. Thirteen people were injured in the shooting on North Market Loop. Allen was the only one who didn't survive.

She left behind a 4-year-old daughter who was at her grandmother's side during a Crime Stoppers news conference on Monday. Leanna Goudeau continues her fight for justice in her daughter's death.

"I need the help of the community. I know someone knows something," Goudeau said. “I want them to be forced to look me into my eyes. I want them to be forced to look Kennedy in her eyes."

Goddeau has been caring for her granddaughter Kennedy since Allen's death. She said that's what keeps her going on the darkest days.

“I’ve been forced to fight thoughts of suicide, I’ve been forced to fight depression because of what happened to my daughter,” Goudeau said.

The Crime Stoppers reward is up to $10,000 for information leading to the charging and/or arrest of the suspect(s) in this case. Call 713-222-TIPS (8477) to report tips or submit them online at www.crime-stoppers.org or through the Crime Stoppers mobile app. Only tips and calls DIRECTLY TO Crime Stoppers are anonymous and eligible for a cash reward.

What we know about the shooting

Allen was at the 2021 vigil and balloon release to celebrate the life of Kennedy's godfather, who'd recently been gunned down in Baytown.

Around 6:38 p.m., Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said someone in a black, 4-door Honda Civic drove by and fired multiple shots into the crowd.

Duane Cormier was shot in the back.

"Bullets were still hitting the ground around me. People were still screaming and hollering a lot of stuff," Cormier told us back then. "My life flashed before my face when I was laying there. I asked God to take my soul."

The gathering included a bounce house full of children but thankfully none of them were injured.

Deputies said a vehicle matching the description was found burned nearby after the shooting.

The motive for the drive-by shooting isn't known.
