HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A family’s fight for justice took a major step forward on Tuesday.
Devan Jordon will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing Jeffrey Johnson at his League City home in June 2021.
Jordon made headlines for posting bond twice while facing two separate capital murder charges in connection with the deaths of Johnson and Joshua Sandoval.

Sandoval’s sister, Aimee Castillo, sees it as a major step forward because she believes it sets a precedent for the other capital murder charge Jordon faces in Sandoval’s death.
On Tuesday night, Castillo said she needed to be downtown at a meeting for Parents of Murdered Children and Surviving Family Members.
"They have become like a family to me," Castillo said.
Castillo said the group has been there for her every step of the way since losing her brother in May 2021. The Milby High School graduate was shot and killed during a robbery.

"He was my little brother and he was only 28. He hadn't started living yet and we were so excited to see what his future was going to be," Castillo said.
The man arrested in connection with Sandoval’s death, Jordon, was arrested as part of a major crime ring.
At one point, Jordon faced charges in three different counties, two of which were for capital murder. He was able to post bond for both.
On Tuesday afternoon, a Galveston County jury found him guilty on one of the capital murder charges for the June 2021 shooting death of Johnson in League City.
Castillo sat with Johnson’s family as the verdict was read.
"They're just really happy that justice is served. We're all really happy that justice has been served today. And they also were also kind of in this together now," Castillo said.
She called the jury’s decision a step in the right direction as her family continues to wait for their chance in court.
"If we could have the same outcome, then it's going to be worth the wait. I hope he knows that I've never stopped fighting for him, taking care of him," Castillo said.
She said they are still waiting to find out when their case will go before a jury here in Harris County.
Jordon was found guilty in the Galveston County case and will spend the rest of his life in prison without the chance of parole.
