MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says they have captured a man who was accidentally released from jail due to a clerical error.
Edward Manning, 30, was released under the name of another inmate, Jeffrey Manning, on Wednesday, December 12 and had been at large since.
On Monday, the sheriff's office tweeted he was back in police custody.
Deputies said with the help of a Crime Stoppers tip, they found Manning at an apartment complex on Coke Street in east Houston on Sunday.
Deputies had talked to Edward via cell phone, but he had refused to surrender to authorities.
Edward was in the Montgomery County Jail for Assault Family Violence/Strangulation, which is a felony crime. He was eligible for release with a bond of $20,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
