BRANDON, Miss. -- Rankin County deputies have confiscated about 17 pounds of cocaine during a routine traffic stop.
A release from Sheriff Bryan Bailey said around 4 p.m., drug interdiction agents stopped Adrian Rojas-Jaimes, of Houston driving a red Chevy pickup on Interstate 20 eastbound, near mile marker 62.
Bailey says that during that stop, the deputy suspected drugs or contraband could be inside the vehicle, so it was taken to the shop at the Rankin County Sheriff's Department. A search found the drugs.
Rojas-Jaimes is being held in the county jail on a charge of possession of cocaine.
The Clarion-Ledger reports that District Attorney Michael Guest will bring Rojas-Jaimes for an initial appearance before Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel in the near future, though the release did not have a date.
It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
