DEER PARK, Texas — Deer Park homeowners who had their tires slashed by an unknown man were not the intended targets, according to police.
Police said the man they are looking for is Seth Alexander Wright, 38. They identified him after an anonymous tip led them to his mother's home.
Police said she cooperated with them and confirmed the man caught on surveillance video slashing tires was her son. She also told police his intended target was the previous owners of the home, but he didn't know they moved years ago.
"She had seen the video on the news and immediately recognized her son and called him but she didn't immediately call us," Deer Park PD Lt. Chris Brown said. "He was looking for somebody else, but as far as why, we won't know until we talk to him."
Wright is not in custody, but a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The incident happened on Wednesday, Jan. 24. When the homeowners noticed their tires were slashed, they checked their home surveillance cameras and saw an unknown man taking about 10 minutes to get the job done.
"I couldn't believe it, you know, how it happened," the homeowner told KHOU 11’s Michelle Choi. "Honestly, I have no enemies. I have no idea, like, why?"
Wright is accused of slashing 10 tires on three vehicles, causing around $2,000 to $3,000 in damage. After he punctured the tires, he rang the doorbell to the home and pounded on the front door before finally getting back into his black SUV and shouting what sounded like profanity as he drove away, the homeowners said.
Wright's previous criminal history includes burglary of a vehicle and assault charges.
