HOUSTON — Two people were killed Thursday in a shooting at a park in the Spring Branch area, Houston police said.
It happened around 1:10 p.m. at Bauer Pocket Park, which is just north of Hammerly Boulevard and just east of Blalock Road.
According to Houston police, a juvenile and a man were found dead at the park.
Another juvenile was found about four or five blocks away and was brought in for questioning.
"We have a third individual who was a witness who we’ll be questioning about what occurred," Asst. Chief Alvaro Guzman said.
Witnesses said they heard several gunshots.
"Went outside and there was some kid in a hoodie with a backpack on, carrying a gun in his hand, it was pretty crazy," witness Tuan Ho told us.
"He shot the guy, walked all the way out of the park, still has his gun out in broad daylight then walked all the way back over the body," witness Chris Robinson said. "They seemed pretty casual, I guess, about the whole thing, they didn’t run."
One witness said he saw the possible shooter touch one of the victims, presumably to see if he was dead.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting.
The victims' names haven't been released.
There are a couple of Spring Branch ISD schools near the park and the district was notified about the shooting.
"You don’t expect this to happen at a place where there are supposed to be children and families having a good time," Guzman said.
