DA: 2 undocumented Mexican nationals arrested at major drug bust in north Houston

Drug Enforcement Agency officials said more than 30 kilos of solid meth and 80 gallons of liquid meth were found in a major bust in north Houston.

HOUSTON — A significant drug bust went down in north Houston this week, according to officials with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Houston Police Department and Harris County District Attorney's Office.

The investigation began earlier this month when the DEA got info about drugs being made at a location in north Houston off Veterans Memorial Drive. They said they worked with local law enforcement and successfully made a significant seizure on Tuesday.

They took down a meth lab operating inside a home in north Houston. It was a duplex and agents said the neighbors didn't know what was happening on the other side of their walls.

"Those labs are like ticking bombs, they can explode any second, any minute and kill innocent people," DEA Houston Special Agent in Charge Daniel C. Comeaux said.

Comeaux said it was a "methamphetamine conversion lab" and they're particularly dangerous due to their volatile nature.

Authorities said they found 31 kilos of raw meth and 80 gallons of liquid meth. According to Comeaux, the liquid meth was enough to produce nearly 400 pounds of raw meth, which has a street value of about $2 million.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced that two undocumented Mexican nationals, both in their 30s, were arrested in connection with the bust. They were charged with possession with intent to deliver more than 400 grams and they're due in court on Thursday, according to Ogg.

The DEA said it has busted about 25 meth labs around the Houston area so far this year.
