Feds say Crosby man provided fentanyl that killed two people and he could go to prison for life

Joshua Ray Stebelton, 24, faces federal charges of trafficking fentanyl and could get up to life in prison if he's convicted.

HOUSTON — A Crosby man was arrested on federal charges related to the fentanyl deaths of two people.

Joshua Ray Stebelton, 24, was part of a four-year conspiracy to distribute more than 440 grams of fentanyl, according to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani.

According to the indictment, fentanyl trafficked by Stebelton killed two people in November 2020 and January 2021. A third victim suffered serious bodily injury, according to the feds.

In addition to the conspiracy, Stebelton is charged with seven counts of distributing fentanyl from November 2020 through June 2023.

If convicted, he could get up to life in prison and a fine of up to $10 million.

The FBI led the investigation with the assistance of the Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
