Child thieves who stole Fort Bend County man's bike caught on surveillance video

The video shows a young man and what appears to be a young girl walking into Eckhardt’s backyard at around 3 a.m. taking the dirt bike and a weed-eater.

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — A Fort Bend County man said he was the target of child thieves earlier this week.

Randy Eckhardt noticed items missing from his backyard as he went to cut the grass on President’s Day.

“I realized something was missing that’s been sitting there,” Eckhardt said. “And I turned around, and I saw the motorcycle missing and of course I freaked out because it’s my baby.”

Eckhardt went to his neighbor’s house to see if anything had been caught on his surveillance camera.  Sure enough, it had.

“The more I watched it, the more I was concerned because there’s a 10 or 11-year-old girl,” Eckhardt said.

The video shows a young man and what appears to be a young girl walking into Eckhardt’s backyard at around 3 a.m. taking the dirt bike and a weed-eater.

“Twelve minutes later my weed-eater is walking down the street with the gentleman and the little girl is walking behind him,” Eckhardt said. “Then 12 minutes later they come walking back — then 12 minutes later there goes my dirt bike.”

The homeowner said his primary concern now is for the young girl in the video.  He is afraid she could get hurt if she is not stopped soon.

Since Eckhardt posted the video online more of his neighbors have come forward reporting that items are missing from their yards as well.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
