HOUSTON – A chase ended in a crash after a suspected car thief attempted to outrun police in west Houston early Friday.
According to the Houston Police Department, it started just before 4 a.m. on South Dairy Ashford near Huntington Estates.
At that time, an HPD patrol unit attempted a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Camaro, but the driver of that car floored it and took off.
As the suspect was traveling south on Dairy Ashford, he failed to maintain control and went onto the traffic island where the car struck a tree head-on.
The driver then fled on foot and got away. The car appears to be stolen.
