CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — A man was arrested and charged in connection with his son's death in Chambers County.
The Chambers County Sheriff's Office said a man was found dead along I-10 on Oct. 13. Authorities said they got a call about the body at the 807-mile marker along the westbound lanes.
They said they could tell right away that foul play was involved in the man's death.
Three days later, the victim was identified as 29-year-old Romeo Jimerson, of Channelview.
Detectives chased down leads and on Oct. 17, they presented their evidence to the district attorney, which approved tampering with evidence charges against Jimerson's father and an acquaintance.
"We want to extend our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the family of Romeo Jimerson and ensure that they know we will continue to pursue justice in this case. I would also like to thank everyone who has taken part in this investigation and helped to bring such a swift resolution to this case," Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said.
Jimerson's father, Cobin Rocio, and Melvin Carraway were arrested. They were booked into the Chambers County Jail and their bonds were set at $750,000.
Authorities said the case is still active and they expect to upgrade the charges soon.
