HOUSTON — A 53-year-old bicyclist who was riding to work was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving an 18-wheeler along the Beltway 8 feeder road in north Houston Friday morning, police said.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of the frontage road near the Hardy Toll Road just before 6 a.m., according to HPD. Three frontage road lanes were closed as police investigated the crash.

Witnesses called 911 when police said the truck did not stop after hitting the man. Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.

The man's family told KHOU 11's Deevon Rahming that he had been living in a nearby hotel and worked in the area.
