HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg is expected to present formal charges later this afternoon against former Harris County Public Health Director Barbie Robinson.
Robinson is being charged with misuse of official information.
According to court documents, this stems from the alleged misuse of millions of dollars. Investigators said they collected emails between IBM and Harris County employees, including Robinson, discussing a $16 million contract for Access Harris, a service provided by Harris County Public Health to assist those with critical needs.
According to these records, the district attorney’s office alleges IBM was aware of the project before bidding began and had already started working on it.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo released the following statement:
"Kim Ogg’s attack on Barbie Robinson is the same thing my former staff members were falsely accused of by her. Nothing to show for it three years later because, as we’ve said, they did absolutely nothing wrong, and her accusations are rife with falsehoods. She’s been voted out, but Kim Ogg continues her pattern of weaponizing her office against those who disagree with her, like Director Robinson, who led a successful program DA Ogg did not like."
Currently, Robinson is not in custody, but there is a warrant out for her arrest.
Robinson was fired from her role as the county's public health director back in August 2024 due to another investigation involving a different company she allegedly was connected to.
No charges were filed in that case.
