New details in Baby Madison case: Investigators revise earlier medical assumptions

Initially, it was believed Baby Madison had a medical condition called micrognathia, which causes a smaller-than-average lower jaw.

MADISONVILLE, Texas — Who is “Baby Madison?” It’s been eight years since a child’s remains were found inside a trash bag in a suitcase along Interstate 45 near Madisonville.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI have been working to solve this cold case and on Thursday morning they released new information they hope will lead to answers.

On September 17, 2016, Baby Madison’s skeletal remains were discovered off I-45 near Madisonville, about 95 miles north of Houston.

Forensic tests revealed the child was between 2 and 5 years old.

The sheriff's office on Thursday released an updated facial reconstruction image of the little girl known as "Baby Madison."

Initially, it was believed Baby Madison had a medical condition called micrognathia, which causes a smaller-than-average lower jaw.

However, after additional forensic professionals examined her remains, investigators now believe she did not have the condition. This led to the release of an updated facial reconstruction image.

Investigators also shared Thursday that Baby Madison may have ancestral ties to El Salvador and Nuevo León, Mexico.

Investigators are hoping this new image will help identify Baby Madison and lead to whoever is responsible for her death.
