21 arrested in prostitution sting in Cypress area

Harris County Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman's office says it responded to citizen concerns about criminal activity with a two-day operation that led to 21 arrests.

Harris County Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman’s office says it responded to citizen concerns about criminal activity with a two-day operation that led to 21 arrests.

The area of concern was along the FM 1960/Cypress Creek Parkway corridor in the Cypress area.

“Residents described how the area is becoming unsightly with businesses closing down due to an increase in crime, vagrants in record numbers, prostitution openly occurring and literally garbage in the streets,” Constable Mark Herman’s team stated.

Earlier this week, deputy constables conducted a prostitution sting that led to nearly two dozen arrests.

“The purpose of this undercover operation was to curtail prostitution by not only targeting the prostitutes on the streets but just as important the “johns” who solicit sex for money.”

“This type of criminal element attracts and goes hand in hand with drug users and dealers, thieves, robbers, gang activity and persons who traffic juveniles and adults alike for sex slaves. Overtime, if left unchecked, it unravels and destroys our communities where we work, go to church and raise our families.”

As a result of the operations, 21 individuals were arrested. Twenty were charged with prostitution, one subject committed the offense of prostitution but was charged with two counts of felony drug possession and five misdemeanor warrants were also cleared.
