Houston cold case: More than 20 witnesses believed to have seen 2020 deadly shooting

Brittany Guidry and a friend were shot at a meat market in Houston's South Side in 2020. Guidry died and her friend survived. The gunman hasn't been caught.

HOUSTON — Crime Stoppers of Houston is hoping the public will help find the person responsible for a deadly shooting on the South Side years ago.

Brittany Guidry was shot and killed in April 2020.

On Tuesday, her family joined Houston police and Crime Stoppers in a unified call for justice.

Police said Guidry and a friend were shot while they were sitting in a car at a meat market on Calhoun Road near Jarmese Street, which is just outside the Loop near Calhoun Boulevard.

The shooting happened in broad daylight. Guidry's friend survived but wasn't able to provide a good description of the gunman. Police said there were several other witnesses but none came forward with information.

"Over 200 people at the store. I don't have to say no more, I know you know. Take the time and do the right thing so it can be off your conscious," Guidry's mother, Juana Johnson, said. "My daughter was headed off to the Marines. She meant everything to me and I'm not able to rest or sleep."

There's a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
