HOUSTON – Two Yates High School students have been arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

The first student, 19-year-old Roger J. Jack, was arrested on Friday after school administrators learned he had a loaded gun on the campus of the school, which is located at 3703 Sampson Street in Houston's Third Ward.

Further investigation led to the arrest of another student, 18-year-old Davonte Henderson, on Monday. Henderson is suspected to have brought the gun to school and passed it on to Jack, school officials said.

No one was harmed.

"We take these situations very seriously, as the safety of our students and staff is always our absolute top priority," School administrators said in a statement released Monday.

Jack was released on a $5,000 bond and made his first court appearance Monday. His next court date is set for December 2.
