LAREDO, TEXAS - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found 13 pounds of crystal methamphetamine hidden in a tractor trailer attempting to cross the border.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a 53-year-old man was driving the truck from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas to the United States.
A CBP officer asked for an intensive inspection of the truck, and a K-9 was able to alert to the drugs.
"Being vigilant at all times is a key component ingrained into our officers from the CBP academy," Port Director Alberto Flores said. "This seizure demonstrates how an officer's experience and attention to detail is crucial at our frontiers."
The 13 pounds of crystal methamphetamine has an estimated $103,020 value. The driver was arrested and the case has been turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
