HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – At least one person was hurt when gunfire rang out in a grocery store parking lot in northwest Harris County overnight.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Kroger on Highway 6 at West Road at about midnight Tuesday.

Deputies found a 22-year old black male shot multiple times. He was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital. Investigators say he will survive his injuries.

“It’s scary knowing that when you’re going out for a simple grocery stop, just to get a few things from the store, that you constantly have to look over your shoulder,” said Deborah Thibodeaux. “It’s scary. We’ve considered, you know, moving.”

There were two vehicles involved, deputies say. The victim’s car a black -colored Acura SUV and a silver Buick sedan. Both vehicles were shot multiple times.

Investigators found two guns on scene, including a black handgun discovered by a passerby, “And I was walking the parking lot and happened to see a gun on the ground. And I went and got a police officer and directed him to the gun.”

The suspects are described as two black males who may have fled in another vehicle.

“I always look around. Make sure I’m keeping track of my surroundings,” said Thibodeaux.
