HOUSTON A 22-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend s 5-month-old daughter and the infant s mother who allegedly did nothing to stop him appeared before a Harris County judge Friday morning.
Javier Rodriguez was charged with capital murder in the death of Alexa Rodriguez.Her mother, 20-year-old Carolina Saucedo, was charged with guilt by omission.
Harris County Sheriff s deputies found the injured child around 6:42 a.m. on February 27.She was pronounced by 7:15 a.m.
According to court documents, Rodriguez struck the child s head against an unknown object and her cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.
The baby also had bruising and human bite marks all over her body, according to charges read in court Friday.Rodriguez allegedly admitted in court that he caused the injuries.
Rodriguez was given no bond and is under an immigration hold.
Alexa s mother is accused of failing to protect her and not seeking medical attention after the baby was injured.Her bond was set at $50,000.
