City of Houston announces new date for MLK Parade

The parade was canceled in January due to the winter freeze.

HOUSTON — The City of Houston's 46th Annual Original MLK Day parade will be happening this weekend after the event was canceled in January because of the winter freeze.

The parade is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10, starting at 10 a.m. It will begin at the corner of Smith and McKinney in front of Houston's City Hall.

The Grand Marshal of the parade will be Attorney Benjamin Crump, a civil rights lawyer. Commissioner Adrián Garcia and Pastor Walter August Jr. will also serve as co-Grand Marshals.

The theme for the parade is "Brotherly Love is the Strongest Advocacy for Peace, Freedom, and Justice for All."
