About a hundred people and dozens of jeeps met Monday at Lincoln Elementary School in honor of a seven year old fighting for his life.
Jeep owners from all over Ohio and some from other states gathered in support of Braydon Jahns, a 7-year-old boy who was supposed to be released from Akron Children's Hospital to hospice care at home.
Last week, Braydon's family met with his team of doctors and made the hard decision to prepare their home, and their hearts for hospice. At just 7 years old, Braydon has been fighting Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia since the age of 2.
"Braydon, he's strong, he's been fighting cancer for five years now and he's kind of losing it, I just hope that he has a wonderful time in heaven," said his cousin Dalton Remesnik.
But Braydon wanted to make a wish before he left the hospital on how he'd get home.
"When I was at the hospital I asked what did he want and he said he wanted to ride in a jeep with the top down to come home so I guess the jeep community heard and they have come out and massive forced to show their support," said organizer and friend of family Kelle Bader.
When the family posted on their Team Braydon Facebook page. the internet went wild sharing the post to make sure his wish came true.
They drove in their jeeps, donated their money, and left him signs and cards.
"Our daughter is a fighter too at Akron Children's Hospital and we know Braydon and I just said we love you buddy, we got your back," said family friend Jen Procner.
But when they arrived ready to cheer on Braydon, they all heard the news, that Braydon wasn't coming home on Monday.
"He took a turn for the worse yesterday so they are trying to keep him comfortable right now," said Bader.
"We don't know too many details right now other than he had a rough night last night," said Andrea Remesnik, Braydon's cousin. "We just pray for his comfort and for his mom and dad and we hope he gets to see all these beautiful pictures that we are going to take for him today. We love you Braydon."
The family doesn't know if or when Braydon will get to live out his last wish, but he atleast got to watch this video from his hospital bed, to see just how much his community loves him.
"It's just amazing, the support that Braydon has," said Andrea. "He's been such a fighter and I just pray that you'll be comfortable looking at all the jeeps. We wish she was here today."
"He is brave and courageous, he likes movies very much, he plays a lot just like a normal kid, he's fine and he's just a great kid," said Dalton.
A GoFundme page has been set up for Braydon.
