Comedian Drew Lynch from “America’s Got Talent”

Drew Lynch shares his story of overcoming the odds and winning over the nation with his comedy

HOUSTON — After moving to Los Angeles at age 19 to be an actor, Drew Lynch was a part of a softball team.  One play changed his life forever, as a grounder took a bad hop, hit him in the throat, damaged nerves in his vocal chords and gave him a concussion.  The damage left him with a sever stutter that soon dashed his hopes of acting, but led him to change his career path to comedy.  First, as a way of healing, by getting on stage and sharing his thoughts about his situation with the crowd; then as a passion that led him to “America’s Got Talent” in 2015 where he got the Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel, and made it to second place in the finals.

Since then, he has appeared on Conan, IFC’s “Maron,” had national stand-up tours and launched two wildly successful YouTube series, “Dog Vlog” and “Therapy Dog,” both featuring his own therapy dog, Stella.

You can catch Drew Lynch tonight on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” at 7pm, featuring 50 returning contestants.
