Clear Creek ISD coach accused of improper relationship with student found dead

League City police looking into allegations of an improper relationship between a Clear Creek High School coach and a female student have suspended their investigation after the coach was found dead in his car.

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas League City police looking into allegations of an improper relationship between a Clear Creek High School coach and a female student have suspended their investigation after the coach was found dead in his car.

Chad Hunt, a 42-year-old football and track coach, apparently committed suicide in Brazoria County Wednesday morning, just a day after learning about the investigation.

On Tuesday afternoon, League City officers went to the school to speak with Hunt about the allegations.

They said he volunteered to go to the police station, where he was interviewed for 30 to 45 minutes.

After he went in for the interview, Clear Creek ISD placed Hunt on administrative leave with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.

But the next morning, his body was found in his Jeep on FM 2403, just north of FM 2917.

Police said the legal definition of an improper relationship between an educator and a student is sexual contact, sexual intercourse, or deviate sexual intercourse with a person who is enrolled in a public or private primary or secondary school at which the employee works.

Students, parents and community members were shocked and saddened after news of Hunt s death and the allegations against him spread.

Just not to see him in school again is going to be hard, said Clear Creek student Jose Gonzalez.

It just makes you think you can t trust anybody, said parent Sandy Ledford. You just never know what s going on in their minds.

But others defended Hunt, saying he was a great coach and family man who will be sorely missed in their community.

School officials made grief counselors available for students and staff at Clear Creek High Thursday.

Hunt had been with CCISD for five years.
