HOUSTON Charges against a man who authorities said shot a young manager at a west Houston car dealership on Friday were upgraded to murder on Tuesday.

Keith Edward Grimmett, 49, is now charged with murder after Robert Kuentz, 30, passed away Monday afternoon at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Kuentz had been in critical condition since he was shot in the neck at Mac Haik Chevrolet in the 11700 block of the Katy Freeway Friday.

Grimmett, 49, was arrested a few hours later and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Grimmett, a Mac Haik salesman, was angry about a meeting the two had the day before, according to court documents.

A witness who was in Kuentz s office when the shooting happened told detectives that Grimmett walked in and said he was mad about the way Kuentz treated him at the meeting on Thursday. Then he pulled out a gun and shot Kuentz once in the neck, witnesses said.

Other employees told investigators Kuentz and Grimmett had argued before. Grimmett hadn t worked at the dealership for very long.

He remains jailed without bond.

Kuentz was married and had a small child. One employee described him as a great guy.
