PORT CHARLOTTE, Florida -- The Animal Welfare League in Port Charlotte Florida is investigating this photo of Thomas Mcguinness of Port Charlotte pointing the gun at a cat as a possible case of animal cruelty.

The post by Mcguinness that has since been taken down was reported to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office and Animal Control.

It angers us beyond belief, Charlotte County Animal Control Division Manager Lt. Brian Jones told WZVN-TV in Ft. Myers.

Thomas Mcguinness later posted: don't know why everybody so mad about a cat we only shot it twice.

That's a confession, where I come from if we found a dead cat, Jones said.

Animal Control also found pictures on Facebook of Mcguninness pointing a gun at a dog and himself.

WZVN-TV also reports that authorities have made contact with Mcguinness and he is cooperating.

Lt. Brian Jones said Mcguinness apologized for the photo and claimed the animals are OK, but animal services are going to check on them as soon as possible.
