HOUSTON A volunteertutor exposed and fondled himself in front of a group of shocked high school students, according to the Alief Independent School District Police Department.
It s been something going around school, said one student, who did not want to give his name. But it s not funny though.
Richard Lee Young III was charged with indecency with a child.
The alleged lewd behavior happened at Alief Taylor High School on Feb. 13.
That s immature, said Jessica Mendoza. We come to school to learn not to do bad things like that.
According to court documents, Young unzipped and lowered his pants, then began to touch himself inappropriately while a teacher was giving a lesson. Another tutor and students told him they could see what he was doing, and alerted the teacher. That is when he stopped.
It s sick, said Mendoza. I d throw up if I saw that.
Investigators said Young was fully aware that the freshman class was full of young students, mostly 14 and 15 years old.
Students at Alief Taylor High School can t believe it.
That s kind of crazy, said another junior, who didn t want to be identified. Why would anyone do that? Especially at school.
The district did not want to answer questions on camera, but a spokesman said Alief Taylor s principal alerted parents last Friday and held a staff meeting to discuss the incident with teachers. But at least one parent told KHOU 11 News they had no idea.
Nobody told me anything, said parent Maria Medrano. I think what happened is horrible.
Alief ISD said the investigation continues.
