H-E-B customers will now only be allowed to buy a maximum of three cartons of eggs at a time.
In a statement, H-E-B said that in order to ensure the availability of eggs for all Texas families, eggs are not available for commercial sale and that the purchase of eggs is limited to three cartons per customer.
H-E-B is not the only company to make a change. On Monday, Whataburger said that they were trimming their breakfast hours due to a national egg shortage.
Egg prices reached record levels on Friday after a bird flu outbreak decimated the flock, leading to the death of more than 20 million egg-laying hens over the last month in the top producing state of Iowa, the Associated Press reports.
