Internet buzzing over Spanx founder's new product

Sara Blakely teased her husband's reaction to the product in a video. However, social media has mixed reactions.

ATLANTA — Sara Blakely, who founded Spanx in Atlanta, announced a new shoe line called "Sneex."

In a new video announcing the product, Blakely said it has been her dream to create a comfortable high heel for years.

"We’ve been fed the line that beauty is pain... but does it have to be? When people ask me, why shoes, why now? I say, “Have you ever worn high heels!?” I’ve been dreaming of inventing comfortable high heels since I started wearing them. But I was bored with the other options in my closet. I craved a completely new kind of shoe, something that sparked playfulness and made me excited to get dressed again," Blakely wrote in the announcement.

Meanwhile, others are not so sure.

"Comfortable high heels do not mean the heels have to be sneakers. This is not the solution to the problem. Revisit, Sneex and Spanx...revisit," Tess McKeever-Voecks wrote on X.

Whether it's your cup of tea or not, Blakely added she'll continue to advocate for women through products.

"I hope Sneex encourage women to reach new heights, to push the envelope and to never settle. Not in life... or in fashion. Sneex are my love letter to every woman who has taken her shoes off at a party, who wears flats to work with heels in her bag, who thought her days of wearing heels were over," she added.
