You may have seen these store fronts in other parts of the country, but now Target's first Dallas small-format store is headed to our town.
The store is projected to open July 2018 at Preston Center Pavilion near the intersection of Westchester Dr. and Berkshire Ln.
Target has been trying to reach new customers by expanding small-format stores near college campuses, dense suburban neighborhoods and urban areas. They want the shopping experience to be tailored to residents that live in neighborhoods the stores are in.
“Earlier this year we announced a $220 million investment to remodel 28 stores in North Texas, and we’re thrilled to add on to that commitment by opening DFW’s first small-format store,” said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, Properties, Target. “We are bringing a uniquely-Target shopping experience to the Preston Hollow and Park Cities communities with our new Preston Center small-format store, offering the ease and inspiration of a curated assortment alongside a pickup point for online orders.”
The Preston Center location will employ about 75 employees.
The company is set to open 130 small-format stores by the end of 2019 in neighborhoods where a traditional-sized Target store may not fit.
