HOUSTON — Thanksgiving is here again and that means family, food, football and a huge parade in downtown Houston!
The H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade is almost here and we've got everything you need to know to take part in the festivities. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner is the grand marshal. Houston Rockets legends Rudy Tomjanovich and Calvin Murphy will serve as co-grand marshals.
How to watch
You can watch the parade LIVE on KHOU 11. Our pre-parade coverage begins at 8 a.m., followed by the parade at 9 a.m. We'll have it live on air, online and on KHOU 11 + on Roku, FireTV and AppleTV.
If you're busy cooking up a Thanksgiving feast then, it will be re-broadcast at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Great Day Houston’s Deborah Duncan and KHOU 11 anchor Ron Treviño will host the parade, with reporter Ugochi Iloka reporting from the route.
If you're heading downtown
- There are things you'll want to know before you go. That includes plenty of street closures to get ready for the parade. Here's a schedule of those closures, which have already started.
- You'll also want to know the parade route to find your spot before you head out! You can see that here.
- And if you're looking for a spot to drop the car, here's where you can find parking spots.
- If you're interested in buying reserved tickets, here's where you can do that.
Who is participating?
The TSU Ocean of Soul marching band will kick things off. The Tyler Junior College Apache Belles are back this year and you’ll see a performance from Theatre Under Stars’ production of Cinderella.
In all, the parade consists of 19 floats, 14 balloons, six marching bands and eight performances. Check out ALL of the participants in this year's parade!
