'We just like to do crazy stuff' | Shoppers wake up early to snag Black Friday deals at Houston Premium Outlets

Lines were out the door for several Houston stores, including Nike, Coach, Tory Burch and Lululemon.

HOUSTON — Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. While deals can be found online – and days in advance – plenty of people still flocked to the Houston Premium Outlets the day after Thanksgiving.

Stores at the Cypress-area mall officially opened at 6 a.m. Friday, but there were long lines of shoppers well before then, ready to get the biggest holiday shopping deals they could find.

Danielle Royal and Angela Sullivan drove from Rosharon and snagged a spot in the Tory Burch line.

“We woke up at 4, got here at 6, so now we’re in line,” Royal said. “They usually have some good deals that you can’t get on a normal basis, especially Tory Burch, so we’re really excited to get our shopping on!”

The chilly start to the day did not dampen their spirits – or their search for sales.

“I got my heated jacket, so I’m okay standing in line for now, we’ll see how long it takes,” Sullivan said.

Long lines formed outside several stores, including Tory Burch, Coach, Nike and Lululemon.

Stephanie Perez drove with her mother and her daughter from Angleton as part of a Black Friday tradition.

“This is my mother and my daughter, so three generations here. We talked about just getting up and doing something crazy, and we got up, left our house at 4:30, got here just before 6,” Perez said. “We just like to do crazy stuff.”

They got in the Lululemon line to get some new pants. While Perez’s daughter, Victoria Vaughan, was thrilled to purchase those pants at a discounted price, she said she was a little less enthusiastic about the actual process of getting them.

“Tired and cold,” Vaughan said, chuckling. “But yeah, excited to see all the other stores, too.”

If you missed getting out the door on Black Friday, here is a pro tip: Officials with the Houston Premium Outlets told KHOU 11 News that in-person deals at some stores will continue through the weekend.
