FORT WORTH, Texas — While Olympic competition kicks off in Paris this weekend, a different contest in the Fort Worth Stockyards will push participants to their beef rib-eating limits.
Riscky's Barbeque is hosting its 18th annual rib eating contest in the Stockyards at 11 a.m. this Saturday, July 27, and you can enter for just $5. Participants will attempt to eat as many beef ribs as possible in just one minute. Then, the top qualifiers will face off in a championship round.
The first-place winner will get a $500 Riscky's gift card, second place earns a $250 gift card and third place wins a $100 gift card.
The contest is first-come, first-served and is limited to 30 participants, according to a Facebook post from Riscky's Barbeque.
Participants must be over 18 unless accompanied by a parent or guardian, the restaurant said. Everyone who enters will get a free Riscky's t-shirt.
Riscky's has been selling barbecue in Fort Worth for 97 years, according to the restaurant's website. For more information about the contest, go here.
