Community reacts to news of Sugar Land burger restaurant shutting down

SUGAR LAND, Texas — People are reacting on social media to the news that a Sugar Land burger restaurant is closing its doors. 

News of the closing came in a Facebook post from Guru Burgers and Crepes. They said their last day to be open will be April 21. In their message, they thanked their customers, saying, “Your support has been the cornerstone of our success, and we could not have asked for a more loyal and wonderful community.”

They also said that if you had gift cards for Guru, they’ll be honored at their sister restaurants, Jupiter, Japaneiros and Ginger Mule at full value. They also said there will be a farewell celebration leading up to their closing date, with a portion of sales going to charities. 

In the post to their Facebook page, there were dozens of comments of support, including Rachel G., who wrote, “Your Japaneiro burger is my absolute favorite and our family has enjoyed many tasty dinners with you. What a classy way to leave though, with donations to your community!”

Davey G commented that it’s “one of the best burgers in Sugar Land.” 

Krystal G added “Noooooo...Town Square is my favorite...and the burgers."
