Law enforcement looking for 15 animal abusers wanted in Houston

The cases included leaving a pet in a hot car for 10 hours and torturing dogs.

HOUSTON — Local law enforcement today released a list of the 15 most wanted alleged animal abusers in Houston.

The Houston Police Department, the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Crime Stoppers Houston and other agencies held a news conference on Tuesday to talk about the cases.

They included leaving a pet in a hot car for 10 hours and torturing dogs.

Law enforcement said there's a strong correlation between abusing animals and abusing humans. That’s one reason they want to find the suspects.

“We see horrific torture of pets at times in domestic violence cases where the perpetrator to get back at the other party intentionally harms the animal," District Attorney Kim Ogg said.

In cases of neglect based on financial issues, animal welfare groups like BARC, the Houston SPCA, the Humane Society, PetSet and others said they can help with food, veterinary care and adoption or foster services.
