Here's what to do if you spot a feral hog on the beach in Galveston

While feral hogs are nothing new to Texas, Galveston beach officials want you to let them know if you see them.

GALVESTON, Texas — Feral hogs are nothing new to Texas. In fact, according to Galveston Island State Park, nearly half of the entire U.S. feral hog population is in the Lone Star State.

Park officials said they’re pretty much spread across every county in Texas, but call them their “newest wildlife park visitor.”

They shared photos on social media of what tracks belonging to feral hogs look like in the sand, as well as photos of the feral hogs at night on the beach. Park officials also said you may notice damage to topsoil as they look for food.

If you see them, make sure to keep your distance and report the sighting to park rangers.

Feral hogs are not native to Texas and can do plenty of damage. You can lean more about them on the Texas A&M Agrilife website.
