HOUSTON - The Queen of England celebrates her 90th birthday this weekend and you can try on replicas of her crown jewels in Houston for free.
"Whenever there's a royal event, people come," said Rex Solomon, of Houston Jewelry. "This is the only permanent exhibit in the United States."
The jewelry store on Westheimer is celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday Saturday.
"Rumor has it the queen has the crown brought to Buckingham Palace a day or so before she wears it and wears it all day long to practice," said Solomon.
Also on display for Diana fans, is the crown she wore on her wedding day.
"It's a great celebration and it's probably a pity that more people aren't celebrating it these days," said Rob Stanley, originally from England.
At the Richmond Arms Pub, Brits remember the royal birthday.
"I love them I was always raised to love them," said Phillip Taylor, who works at the pub.
"The queen, lovely lady, what is it her 90th birthday now, how can you not love the queen?" said Ash Slaughter, whose family is originally from England.
"Jewelry is not just something that you wear, it actually has a part of cultural history as well as governmental history, who had the crown ruled," said Solomon.
