HOUSTON — Houston's Theater Under the Stars will bring their rendition of Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella to life starting in December.
The show debuts at the Hobby Center on December 5 and KHOU 11's Kimberly Davis caught up with the cast for a behind-the-scenes look.
Brianna Kaleen, who's playing Cinderella, embodies some of the challenges the title character was able to overcome.
"I grew up bullied, I didn't think I needed a man," Kaleen said. "I was just strong and independent. It didn't really bother me if I never got married, but then I met my now fiancé."
Soroa-Joye Ross, who portrays the fairy godmother, said the show is relatable and tells a story of overcoming adversity.
"She gets a lot of the things she wants, including love!" Ross explained. "Which is ultimately what we all need. What this whole world needs right now."
The cast hopes the audience walks away feeling not only love but hopefulness because "impossible" things can happen every day.
The show runs through Christmas Eve. Click here to get tickets.
