HOUSTON — A simple idea back in 1931 turned into the largest livestock and rodeo in the world. Seven men met for lunch at the Texas State Hotel. Their goal was to promote the cattle industry in the Gulf Coast region. The Fat Stock Show eventually turned into the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Today it still promotes the agriculture and cattle industry, but it also raises millions of dollars for the youth of Texas, so they can get a higher education.
Great Day's Carlos Hernandez joins from the rodeo grounds with the CEO of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Dr. Chris Boleman.
Any high school graduate who lives in the Lone Star State and plans to attend a Texas university is eligible. Click here for more information on how to apply.
