HOUSTON — We're kicking off today's show with a spotlight on Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that primarily impacts girls. Often, infants appear to develop typically until around 6 to 18 months. But then, developmental milestones may begin to fade, with some children losing the ability to talk, walk, and control muscle movements.
For Kassie and Brian Morell, this disorder has hit doubly hard as their identical twin daughters were diagnosed at two and a half years old. As October is Rett Syndrome Awareness Month, the Morell family joins us to share their story, aiming to raise awareness and rally support for better treatments and, one day, a cure.
