HOUSTON — Jessica Ontiveros has been officially cosplaying for two years, but she's been making costumes for almost 20 years. Jessica started as a teenager making costumes for the Renaissance Faire and then got into theatre. She eventually went to college and got a BFA in Theatre for Costume Design and Construction from Sam Houston State University. In 2020, she decided she wanted to make the Red Throne Room Padmé Amidala's dress from "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" and that was the start of her cosplay journey.
Jessica has been attending Comicpalooza (https://www.comicpalooza.com/) for about seven years. She says she loves the atmosphere of the entire event, just celebrating everything nerdy and pop culture. She also loves meeting new people and getting to do photo-ops with celebrities. She has entered the cosplay contest and won twice.
