Chef Rey is celebrating his 20th anniversary as an Executive Chef with a new cookbook

"The Power of Food 20 Years, 20 Recipes, 20 Friends," details Chef Rey's 20-year journey of how food has played a powerful role in his career.

HOUSTON — Chef Rey grew up around great food in his life. He comes from a family of 11 kids and food was the centerpiece of everyday living. It has always been his first love. Chef Rey entered the Art Institute of Houston in June 2002 and graduated June 2004. He says it was the best decision he has made in his entire life.

Chef Rey has served as Team Chef for three of Houston's professional Sport teams, Astros (2011-2013), Rockets (2014-2018) and Dynamo (2019) and he currently serves as personal Chef to Astros' Alex Bregman. In our professional sports there are athletes representing every culture on the globe. The culinary traditions of each region are more like a melting pot of hundreds of worldwide cuisines with their own unique rich cultural and heritage. Cooking is his passion and gift and there is no better way to connect people than through the Power of Food.

Chef Rey wanted to celebrate his 20-year anniversary with food and friends. But most importantly, he wanted to show how food brings us all together as One! Food is powerful and he says he has witnessed it firsthand in the past 20 years. He had each friend select their favorite recipe and he discussed with each friend how "The Power of Food" played a role in their life and their connection.
