MEXICO CITY - The record company of popular Mexican ballad singer Ariel Camacho says he has died in a traffic accident while leaving a concert.
Del Records says in its social media accounts that Camacho died Wednesday after a guest performance with the group Clave Azul in Mocorito in the Pacific coast state of Sinaloa. Camacho was in his early 20s.
The company said the car he was traveling in with three friends crashed on the highway and was destroyed. There were no details about the accident or the condition of his companions.
Dozens of Mexican musicians expressed their condolences on social networks and published photos with Camacho. Several came to sing at his wake Thursday.
Camacho was to perform this weekend in Southern California, where he was very popular.
